In order to continue to produce eligible offspring, approved breeding stallions must be activated each breeding season. The owner, by activating his stallion, declares that his stallion is going to be available for breeders who have interest in producing registerable foals. 

Annual stallion activation dues are invoiced each December by the Holsteiner Verband. Delays in activation can result in late fees as well as the risk of not being included in any printed version of the Holsteiner Verband's stallion roster, however, stallions are often activated at other times of the year.

North America-based breeders are able to use semen of any stallion approved by the Holsteiner Verband, whether by fresh semen or frozen.  

Below are the approved and activated stallions standing within the North American Breeding District in 2024 along with contact information.  The first list is Verband owned stallions that will be available by frozen semen only.  The second list is privately owned stallions in the district that are active for breeding in 2024. Here you will find a link to the full roster of the Holsteiner Verband's actively breeding stallions for the 2024 season.
