2003 Breeding Stock Approvals

 

The 2003 AHHA Breeding Stock Approvals will be held from October 7-17, 2003. The AHHA will conduct nine sites across the country. The schedule and list of sites appears later in this update. We anticipate that entry forms and information will be mailed to our members some time in mid-May.

 

DNA Testing Requirements

 

The AHHA requires that all horses receiving registrations or certificate of pedigree in 2003 be DNA tested. These procedures are requirements of the AHHA's eventual entry into the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses. The fees outlined in the attached fee schedule already include the DNA test fee.

 

New Fee Schedule

 

The AHHA board of directors set the 2003 Schedule of Fees. In order to continue to provide consistently high levels of service to AHHA members, some fees -- many of which haven't been adjusted since 1996 or before -- have been increased slightly. The board of directors has been extremely sensitive to both the needs of our member breeders and to the funding levels necessary to keep the association viable.

 

Sending Registration Papers/Certificates of Pedigree

 

The AHHA sends all papers (registration papers, certificate of pedigrees, etc.) to our members by the most cost-effective means available. As these are extremely important papers, many breeders prefer to have these papers sent via certified mail. As such, we offer our members the option of having their papers sent via certified mail by enclosing an additional $5 with their application form. We will be modifying the application form to include this request on the application. Horse owners that choose not to have their papers sent via certified mail are responsible for any lost papers and will have to pay the duplicate papers fee for any lost papers, regardless of the reason.

 

New AHHA E-Mail Addresses

 

The AHHA is in the process of changing internet service providers. As such, we are changing our e-mail addresses. While the old addresses will be active for a short period of time, we ask that you update your address book immediately and begin using the new e-mail addresses.
