R Survey from the Awards Committee
R Membership survey
The American Horse Council (AHC) offered a proposal where the AHHA includes certain ads in AHHA publications and orders from those ads of the AHC 2002 Horse Tax Handbook will provide the AHHA with a commission.
The Strategic Planning Committee and the Finance Committee have been charged with developing ways to increase the revenues of the association. The idea of an on-line database and a possible futurity were suggested.
The Strategic Planning and Bylaws Committee will be reviewing ways to modify the Bylaws to allow for due process on any proposed modifications to the Breeding and Registration rules or to the Bylaws. The due process would allow for the items to be presented and reviewed and then published to the membership. The membership would then be able to provide feedback on the suggested modifications that would be reviewed by the Board before the final vote was made on the modification.
Several breeding rules and a bylaws modifications will come up for 45 day vote by the Board of Directors. The BOD will vote on the modifications on a July 17 conference call. Please watch the AHHA web site, and future publications for the revisions to the breeding rules after July 17.
The following breeding rule was approved at the meeting as it had been considered at the January 2002 meeting and thus met the 45 day requirement.
Paragraphs 5.1.8-5.1.11 will be replaced with the new 5.1.8 which reads as follows:
5.1.8. Offspring produced by a stallion and/or mare prior to their approval and completed application process to the Studbooks will be eligible for retroactive registration provided that:
a. Both the stallion and the mare have met all the qualifications for inclusion in the studbooks under sections 3.2 & 3.3 of the breeding rules, respectively
b. Both natural parents and the offspring have been blood and/or DNA tested and are parent verified
c. Evidence of the date of birth of the offspring is provided to the AHHA office, and
d. All applicable fees have been paid.
The stallions standing outside of North America via frozen semen will have full pages in the Stallion Roster in the future issues.
The following policy for the web site was adopted:
The American Holsteiner Horse Association, Inc. (AHHA) will list links to AHHA members, horse organizations and associations, however, the AHHA reserves the right to refuse any advertising, copy or links deemed unsuitable for AHHA and its policies. The AHHA assumes no responsibility for claims or content of advertising or linked sites.
The AHHA will adopt a “Conflict of Interest” policy that will be modeled after the USA Equestrian’s policy. The purpose is to allow each Board member to state any areas of potential conflict of interest on a standardized form and to declare any conflict of interest before a vote.
The AHHA will begin charging a finance charge of 1% per month on any accounts that are over 30 days old.
The Board will have a Strategic Planning Retreat in Houston, TX, on January 11 - 12, 2003. The purpose of the retreat will be to develop an initial Five Year Strategic Plan for the AHHA.
All August Approvals Tour entries have been received in the AHHA office and the October Tour entry packets are being sent in the same mailing with this update.
